On Monday 3 February, the National Parks, Rivers and Beaches Authority, the Forestry Department and the Caribbean Youth Environmental Network celebrated World Wetlands Day to raise awareness of the importance of caring for our wetlands, waterways and watersheds. The groups planted trees and cleaned up rubbish in Pole Yard, near Arnos Vale.

World Wetlands Day is celebrated annually on February 2nd. This year’s theme is “Wetlands and Agriculture”. The theme was chosen to highlight the critical link between wetlands either as important agro-ecological systems or as stand-alone systems, and the stressors, drivers and threats to wetland ecosystems from agricultural activities.
