The National Parks, Rivers and Beaches Authority (NPRBA) has embarked on a water quality monitoring programme at the South Coast Marine Conservation Area which is currently being funded by a US based non-profit environmental organisation, Global Parks. Global Parks’ mandate is to assist developing countries reach the capacity to preserve and manage their natural and cultural resources. At the South Coast Marine Conservation Area, Global Parks have lent their support by funding the first phase of a water quality monitoring programme (first 3 months) in which baseline data is collected to inform management decisions and the finalisation of a management plan for this conservation area.
