Botanical GardensThe National Parks, Rivers and Beaches Authority received a grant for the SVG Botanical Garden from The British High Commission to undertake a project to rejuvenate and propagate plants for the Garden. The project will be implemented over a 12-month period and will improve the interpretation and education on plants for both students and visitors doing tours of the Botanical Garden.

The project aims at increasing the resilience of plants in the Gardens to mitigate the impact of climate change. In recent years the Botanical Garden has been negatively impacted by extreme heat and other weather relate conditions. This has resulted in the loss of some plants and the stagnated growth of others.

The project activities will undertake replanting of sessions of the landscape, in addition to training of staff in tree management and plant propagation. By improving the knowledge system and skills of the staff, it is expected that the staff will be better equipped to care for the plants on the lawn and in the nursery.

The planned activities under the project are expected to improve the tree management in the Garden and the resilience of nursery plants to climate change. Additionally, visitors will have an enhance experience with upgraded signage.

By nurturing resilience in one of SVG’s most treasured green spaces, the UK government continues to demonstrate how climate diplomacy begins at home—protecting biodiversity, inspiring community action, and growing a more sustainable future for generations to come.
